Hello! I'm Emily McInnes, a Paediatric Nurse and Certified Holistic Sleep Coach. 

I have always had a passion for caring for babies and young children. I have over ten years experience in the healthcare setting and I want to use my skills, knowledge and expert advice to support you, your child and the rest of the family so that you can all benefit from a better night's sleep.

Children's sleep is something that has always been of interest to me. I support children with sleep in both a clinical setting in the hospital, as part of my role as a paediatric nurse and in a home setting, as a sleep consultant.

 

As part of my role as a Paediatric Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist, I support children with abnormal sleep and sleep disordered breathing problems as a result of this. Having this understanding and awareness of abnormal sleep, gives me the skills and knowledge to support problematic but 'normal' sleep, which is what you are likely to be experiencing right now.  

 

Now that I have gained a deeper insight into this complex but fascinating area, I can see how and why so many people need help and support to understand their child's sleep habits to differentiate what is normal for their age and stage of development and what needs a little bit of TLC.

Having an understanding of sleep biology, sleep cycles, circadian rhythm, attachment styles and so on, this allows me to apply the evidence based practice to real life situations. I can help you understand your child's sleep and support you with gentle strategies to make your child's sleep journey a positive experience.

​Holistic Sleep Coaching is a GENTLE approach and does NOT involve 'crying it out' or 'controlled crying', We need to protect the development of our growing child's brain and nurture it with all of the goodness that it needs.

I honestly can’t thank Emily enough. At a time when I was seriously sleep deprived and lost at what to do next. Emily gave me confidence, listened to how we wanted to to approach our baby’s sleep and supported us with her abundance of knowledge. My baby went from only being able to fall asleep from feeding, to now being able to fall asleep in his cot, with only a only little support from us. She has supported us the whole way through, with tips, advice and reassurance. We now have a consistent routine that works, with our 5 month old only waking  few times in the night for a feed and then going back to sleep. Emily has also gone out of her way to check in with us regularly, often just when I needed it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Emily, thank you for your patience, compassion, knowledge and support on this sleep journey with our little girl. With your help we have gone from multiple wake ups to 1/2 a night and gained some time back as a couple in the evenings!!
